Rehabilitation Worker I - Brock Cottage (Permanent Part-time - weekend)
About This Role
The Rehabilitation Worker I will engage and work with clients on an individual basis to achieve goals as
outlined in the clients Recovery Plan of Care. The Rehabilitation worker will use hands on training
techniques, supporting and encouraging clients on a daily basis to improve life skills, social/
interpersonal relationships, effective use of leisure time, encourage participation in events, the
development of natural friendships and to take responsibility for their personal wellness and
cooperative living chores.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide education to clients regarding home safety practices
- Supervise clients’ living in the group/residential homes by promoting a healthy environmental milieu specifically focusing on evening house routines
- Establish a therapeutic relationship with clients
- Oversee the upkeep of the home to address health and safety of residents
- Monitor client compliance with medication regimes
- Respond to crisis situations as they arise and forward the Crisis Incident Report to the Clinical
Manager
- Engage the client in daily activities using engagement techniques based on the individual’s strengths, interests, etc. and to encourage and support the client to achieve their optimum level of functioning
- Ensure medication supervision where required with clients to increase compliance for supper and evening medications
- Maintain confidential client files and records
- Participate in community education or community related activities and/or community development activities
- Support the client/member to participate in social and recreational activities

Qualifications & Requirements
Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with two-year diploma in a relevant, health-related discipline of study.
Experience working in mental health and addictions
Current First Aid and CPR certification required
Course/workshop in concurrent disorders or equivalent (SMART Recovery Facilitator Training) an asset
Certified Psychosocial Rehabilitation Recovery Practitioner (CPRRP) designation an asset
Workshop in motivational interviewing preferred
Demonstrated crisis intervention skills/experience
Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector police records check
A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence, access to a vehicle, and vehicle insurance with a minimum of $2,000,000 liability.

Strong problem-solving abilities
Requires analytical skills to gather and disseminate data from different sources
Ability to adapt to changing environments
Basic computer and keyboarding skills
Ability to work within Mental Health Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care guidelines, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Practitioner’s Code of Ethics, Best
